“My personal items…and a free transfer out of here.” Alexandra paused. Swallowed. “Give me those, and I’ll tell you everything I know.”
She spit at the floor. Her breath came in wheezes. Chest heaved up and down. But her eyes remained hard.
“Subject is…telling the truth,” said terminal’s electronic female voice.
Falko frowned. Frustration radiated off his body. He crossed his arms. Turned to the orderly at the terminal. “Up the voltage.”
ZZZZzzzzzzzzccccchhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
Electrical current surged through Alexandra’s flesh. She shut her eyes, grit her teeth, and stiffened. It stopped. She attempted a sly smile. “We got a deal?”
The door opened. A soldier stepped inside and slipped Falko a handgun. Falko turned, rushed at the chair, and shoved the pistol into Alexandra’s skull.
“Enough! Tell me what they’re planning or I’ll put a bullet in your head!”

Jack turned away from the observation room’s window and approached Taylor.
“You can’t let him do this!”
The colonel didn’t respond.
Jack continued, “Let me go after Hector. I can–”
“No. You’re staying here until I say otherwise.”
“You mean until Falko says otherwise, right?”
The observation room door opened. Jessica entered. A broad smile danced across her lips until she caught a glimpse of Alexandra and Falko through the glass. “What–”
“She failed the lie detector,” said Taylor. “She’s not his sister.”
“What? That doesn’t make any—her DNA is a perfect match!” Jessica said. “She is Hector’s sister!”
Taylor frowned. “That’s impossible.”
Jack’s mouth fell open. Realization hit. “She doesn’t know!”
Jessica charged through the interrogation room’s door.
Falko’s head snapped back around. “What the–”
“What are you doing?” Jessica held up her datapad. “She’s his sister!”
One of the orderly’s jumped up. “We’re losing her!”
The computer terminal’s voice announced, “Subject losing consciousness. Heart rate too low.”
Falko swore. “I don’t care who she is–”
Alexandra’s heart rate flatlined.
